John Wick 3

I've seen John Wick 3. This fits into the same genre as Overlord in that I just watched a 2 hour video game stream. There are moments where a fight happens, you watch what amounts to a transitional cut scene to a new unique location then witness the action pick back up with new bad guys.

I'd say Keanu Reeves has about 10 lines, 7 of which are 'yeah'. The choreography was amazing. Some of my favorite fight scenes I've seen in a long time. It was great to see Mark Dacascos doing something besides Iron Chef.
What I didn't like:

The fact that this was a 2 hour + music video/video game made it so I doubt I'd watch it more than 2 times whereas the first movie, I can put on at any time. Now that they've made it to the third chapter, they've taken a deep dive into their world, which is fun...but it really should just be a TV show at this point.

Some of the fights quite honestly went on WAY too long. This has made the characters feel a lot like what happened to the Fast and the Furious franchise (where at some point, they all became super hero spies rather than street thugs stealing trucks). The punishment people can take has become extreme from the first movie (escalation a la video games).

All that said, I really enjoyed myself while I watched the movie. If you've seen the trailer, you know that a couple German Shepards get in on the action. That was by far my favorite part of the whole experience.

And maybe that's what this should be called more than anything else: an experience. There's maybe a 15 minute movie in amongst the action sequences and brutality.

So I recommend the movie to people who loved John Wick, action movies, Atomic Blonde, etc. If you were just kinda meh about the first two or you don't care about this genre, it's not at all for you. In fact, you'd likely find it boring.

Rating: 3.75/5

PS Lance Reddick was freakin' amazing and bad ass. Laurence Fishburne was also great.
